Angelina G.

Angelina G. is a Pajaro Resident who has worked as a farmworker and currently also is working as a home caregiver. Angelina is also a Community Climate Coalition member working on the Transformative Climate Communities Planning grant from the state of California. Angelina joined the PhotoVoice project because she wants to represent the feelings of Pajaro residents after the flood. She also wanted to capture how climate change affects her daily life.

This day was very rainy and the strawberries went bad. It was a big loss of fruits that were damaged by the water. This is the same thing that happened to Pajaro residents. A lot of their personal things were damaged and had to be thrown out. There are new fruits growing which represent a new beginning in Pajaro.

In this picture, the field workers are waiting in the sun to get the fruit checked. This line reminds me of how many long lines Pajaro residents had to wait to get the help they needed after the flood.

Field workers have to find a way to protect themselves. This reminds me of how many families had to find a way to protect their families and themselves. After the flood many families left their homes with nothing.

These are very special and valuable things we lost after the flood. Some things were from generations before.

This picture can represent the beauty in Pajaro. After the rain and flood, good things come.

People go to the beach to cool down in hot weather. It gets so full that it is hard to find personal space. In Pajaro it can also be hard to find space of your own.

In Pajaro most people work in agriculture. This picture shows that people still have to go to work in the rain, which can cause them to get sick. It's dangerous to work in the slippery mud.

On hot sunny days there can be so much dust, which gets all over the cars and even inside the homes. Dust all over the cars make the streets in Pajaro feel abandoned, like if no one cares about Pajaro.
