Climate change affects everyone and everything. At Regeneración, we are working to elevate the stories of local residents as we all grapple with the unfolding effects of a changing climate. It’s not just polar bears and coral reefs that are at risk. People are suffering, and life is changing in unexpected ways. Together with our community partners we are striving to create just climate solutions with the people most at risk.
Please help us to turn the climate emergency into an opportunity to build a safer, stronger, and healthier Pajaro Valley community by making a gift today!
Your support will help us act now.
We invited Pajaro residents to apply to participate in a 3 part ‘Photo Storytelling’ workshop in which they were guided to take pictures and write their stories of how they are experiencing the impacts of climate change. Through the project we are revealing:
How are residents of Pajaro experiencing climate change?
“The image reminds me of being left behind and displaced from our lives. Everytime it rains, I wonder if we will be left behind again.”
-Ricardo P.
High School student from Pajaro
“The flooding on March 11, 2023, affected us in so many ways. We had so many personal things damaged, and everything was a big loss… It will take time to recover.”
-Angelina G., Pajaro Resident
Meet all 5 selected participants and view their photo galleries here!
In the coming months we plan to display our new photo gallery in locations around the Monterey Bay and hold another photo-journalism workshop series for youth in the Pajaro Valley in 2025.
Please give generously now to amplify Ricardo and Angelina’s stories. Climate change is a threat multiplier and thousands of low-income families in the Pajaro Valley are facing a stark future. Your support will help Regeneración achieve climate justice through community driven solutions as we work on many projects in the coming year. There has never been a more crucial time for collective action to protect our people and our natural environment.
