Vicente F. is a student at Watsonville High School and lives in the community of Pajaro. Vicente is involved in Empower Watsonville and loves to help his community.

“I decided to join this program because Pajaro needs more voices to speak up for the community.

Car shows are important for culture because they preserve history, showcase craftsmanship, and bring communities together, especially in traditions like lowrider culture where cars represent identity and pride. They celebrate creativity, family, and heritage, keeping stories from past generations alive. However, they also have an environmental cost—classic cars burn fuel inefficiently, release high levels of emissions, and contribute to both air and noise pollution.

This bus stop is right next to a busy highway. There’s no sidewalk, no bench, no shelter—just a sign in the dirt. Cars and trucks drive by fast, only a few feet away. It’s loud, dangerous, and there’s nothing to protect the people waiting here. Bus stops are supposed to help people—but this one puts them in danger. This isn’t fair. Everyone deserves a safe place to wait for the bus. We need better. Because nobody should have to risk their life just to get to where they need to go.
